Korinek instructs to “clip the feathers from around the intended seat of operation,” wash with antiseptic, and make an incision “not over one-half inch long” high in the crop center. After removing contents, the wound is sewn with “ordinary thread and needle.” Aftercare involves “feeding very little food until the crop is fairly well healed,” then soft bran mashes and vegetables.
